Quilting, as a form of preserving memories. Creating something of comfort out of materials of a nostalgic essence. These material mean nothing to those who have no memories attached to them. Something tangible that is able to evoke memories within us as it allows us to commemorate the past.

Memory Blanket - an installation by Wendy Daws
The piece is visually very ephemeral but builds a sense of sweet nostalgia with the viewer. Daws' work "weav[es] stories together" from The Icon Theatre show, The Silk of 1000 Spiders. "Using clear acrylic with etched details, the characters and stories become visible when caught by the light. The main characters played their part as did the members of Move and Make, coming together to share their family histories." |
